Someone Chop a Green Pepper!

With those five immortal words, Glass Nickel Pizza Co. set out on a dream to offer the best pizza in town. Opening November 5th, 1997 on Atwood Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin, the first store was abuzz with excitement and orders. We will never forget the first call for our Deluxe Pizza and the subsequent shout from the kitchen, “We need green pepper! Someone chop a green pepper!”  Three days later our first employee was hired.  Today that first employee has not only continued to grow alongside us, but is the General Manager at our original location.

What Makes a Glass Nickel Pizza pizza better......

Dough made fresh each day, in house.

Our Classic and Marinara sauces made in-house from our original recipe from 1997.

Fresh veggies sliced, chopped, diced....yep, in-house.

Boar's Head deli meats, sliced in-house per Boar's Head training and standards.

Wisconsin Cheeses. As many Local and Neighboring State ingredients and items that we can find that past our taste testing, quality standards, and still keep the gourmet in the flavor but not on the price tag.We want you to have the best of the best, any day of the week, as many days as you're craving!

Each GNP is independently owned and operated, currently all by previous employees! Owners you’ll find in the kitchen, greeting you on the phone or at your door with your order. And while every Glass Nickel Pizza provides the same great food and service, you’ll see that each has a uniqueness created by its owner and community. For that we are grateful. Because GNP not only strives to make the best pizza around, we also want to provide an experience that’s intrinsically local. Thank you for supporting Glass Nickel Pizza throughout Wisconsin. You, the pizza lover, is why we get to do what we do everyday.

Thanks to the help of our neighbors, staff and community, the Glass Nickel name has grown throughout Wisconsin. And while we have expanded, the veggies at each location are still chopped fresh in-house everyday. And every morning the sauce and dough is made from our own award-winning recipes. The original Atwood location continues to be run by the founding families, Brian & Rebecca Glassel and Tim & Megan Nicholson (can you now guess where Glass Nickel Pizza’s name came from?). And you’ll still find at least one of us at "the shop" - making pizzas, out on a delivery, or helping the team. Which is exactly what you’ll experience at every Glass Nickel Pizza location.
